               Klinaklini View

The Klinaklini River is the longest wilderness river system of southern British Columbia- flowing from the dry West Chilcotin plateau, 200 km through the Coast Mountains to the rain forest at Knight Inlet on the Pacific Ocean.

Annual spring floods and glacier run-off have created extensive warm wetlands in the valley bottom. These wetlands are bounded by the slides, meadows, forests and the glaciers of the surrounding peaks.

Klinaklini Outfit are licensed angling guides through this river system and it’s tributaries.

Fly In Fishing

Access to our base camp is generally fly in by float plane via Tweesmuir Air at Nimpo Lake. See Location & Transport.

The base camp is at the head of a 25 km stretch of river that is navigated downstream by boat, canoe, float or by trail and passes through the valley bottom wetlands and Klinaklini Lake. The upstream return to

Camp is by jet boat or by trail. Downstream trips can be with a guide or on your own. Upstream trips at the end of the day are always with a guide due to the hazards of river navigation.

Species and Tackle

Primary fish species are rainbow trout and bull trout. Fly or spinning tackle can be used. Since the river is narrow, an angler should be prepared to fish in tight spots and cast under overhanging trees, as well as in the open Lake.

Klinaklini Outfit can provide all equipment including canoes and floats (river and lake), power boats (lake only) and tackle (optional).

Facilities and Season

One 4 person cabin with full cooking is available at base camp and only one party is booked at a time. The season is May 1 to October 15.

Catch and Release

The Klinaklini Bull Trout are large and aggressive and are sensitive to overfishing. As licensed angling guides Klinaklini Outfit supports catch and release.
